John Louis Murrell

John Louis Murrell was born on November 1, 1945, at 9:44 am at Patterson General Hospital to Audrey Nettie Walker and Corporal Moses Louis Murrell, United States Army. 

As a young man John’s prized possession was a souped-up White 1963 Ford Falcon Convertible with a custom engine built himself. He used it for recreational street racing, which he would often win. 

As his passion for cars progressed he studied auto mechanics at Kilmer Job Corps Center in Edison, New Jersey, and continued to advanced training at Job Corps in Indiana. John Graduated from Job Corps in 1968. He furthered his craft as an auto mechanic at Connelley Trade School where he advanced to a Diesel Mechanic in 1974. John then took an interest in aircraft and graduated with a diploma in Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic from Teterboro School of Aeronautics in 1977. In 1982 John started his career at Port Authority of Allegheny County where he performed 27 years of service.

Later in life John developed an interest in woodcraft and returned to Connelley Trade School to study carpentry in 1983. He also traveled abroad to master his love of woodworking. John never did anything halfway when he created many original pieces of furniture, arts, and crafts.

John was preceded by his sisters, Kitty, Jessie, and Debbie. He leaves to treasure in his memory his brother, Wayne, and a host of family and friends. John entered into eternal rest at Canterbury Place on February 15, 2024
