Jason Sheffey Obituary

My Story: Jason Robert Lee Sheffey

My name is Jason Robert Lee Sheffey, and my journey began on April 8, 1978, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was welcomed into the world by my loving mother, Edythe Jones-Winbush, and I was the second of four children to my father, Johnny Sheffey.

A Spirited Childhood

As a child, I was always active and had my own adventures planned. Those who knew me can recall the time I escaped from my crib, eager to reach my favorite neighborhood park!

In my younger years, I cherished attending church. Some of my most treasured memories revolve around worship, discovering God's love and being part of a faith community that shaped my values and character. Those formative experiences instilled in me the significance of faith, family, compassion, love, and resilience. Although life has led me down various paths, the lessons I learned during that time have remained my foundation. I find solace in the knowledge that my faith has guided me home, and now I rest peacefully in the presence of the Lord.

The Value of Family

Throughout my life, family has always been my top priority. Anyone who knew me understood that there was very little I wouldn't do for the ones I loved. Whether family or friends, I believed in showing up, offering help, sharing laughter, or simply being present when needed.

I was a proud graduate of Wilkinsburg Jr./Sr. High School. I was passionate about sports and could spend hours talking about a game, a team, or a great athlete, especially the Steelers. When I was not spending time with family and friends, I enjoyed playing PlayStation, watching anime, cooking meals, watching movies, and listening to 90's R&B music. These simple joys brought me happiness and helped create many cherished memories with those around me.

More than anything, I hope to be remebered for my love of family, my loyalty, my sense of humor, and the relationships i built throughout my life. The love I shared with those closest to me was one of my greatest blessings.

On June 6, 2026, at UPMC East Hospital, I peacefully transitioned from this life, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and lessons that will remain with those who knew me best.

I am reunited in Heaven with my beloved brother, Johnnt Wahanee Sheffey Jr. Through our earthly journeys ended at different times, we are together again in God's presence, free from pain and surrounded by everlasting peace. I leave behind a legacy of love through my beloved mother, Edythe Jones-Winbush, and her husband, Thomas Winbush; my father, Johnny Sheffey;

My three beautiful daughters, Tajae Lashawn Sheffey, Saniya Miah Sheffey, and Jasiya Sheffey; my loving sister, Dr. Diona Cherie Jones-Williams and her husband, Edward Williams; and my two little sisters, Jonae Shaylyn Sheffey and Jada Nicole Simmone Sheffey. I also leave behind my chosen brothers, Kenneth Moses Sr., Donnie Moses, and Emmett Moses, and my chosen sister, Roxanne Moses-Williams, and my nephew Ken, who felt more like a brother, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will carry my memory forward.
