Janett Gardner Bryan was born in Costa Rica (Puerto Limon), on October 23, 1938. She became a US Citizen in 1968 and settled in New York City (The Bronx). She is the second child of four siblings. She was 86 and touched everyone with her loving heart. She was raised in Limon and would always talk about the beauty of her home country. Jean, as she was affectionately known in Limon, loved the breadnut, breadfruit and coconut trees. She enjoyed nature and had a love for growing plants. Jean loved speaking Spanish and would teach her children and grandchildren the language at every opportunity. Momma Janett was the loving mother to Sheila Ann and Stephen Anthony. Mother-in-law to Randolph Scott. She cherished her role as grandmother to Christina (Christy), Israel (Izzy), Stephon and Deshaun. She always asked for the Atlanta Crew (Rod, Tiara & Tenisha). Momma loved birthdays and would be the first to ring your phone to sing to you, showing how much you mattered to her. She loved her sister (Sonia), niece (Carollee) and nephew (Kareem). She would not miss a family gathering at Aunt Elena’s and going places with the family. She also loved her friends at Sarah Care (Miss Bea & The Girls). Janett was dedicated for over 20+ years to her patients as a nurse at Fieldston Lodge and Ft. Tryon Nursing Homes. She instilled the characteristics of caring and dedication into her children and all the lives she touched. Momma Loved Life! She had a kind heart and a love for God at an early age. She also loved to pray. She lived by, “Treat Others the Way You Want to be Treated.” She loved taking pictures with her Canon, putting up the Christmas tree and going downtown to her favorite store, Macy’s on 34th Street. She believed in only the best for her family. Janett leaves to mourn, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her remaining sibling Sonia, Cousin Maryanna and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and an abundance of close friends. Janett was preceded in death by her parents (Vita Pearl and Lester Cole), grandparents, Sister Ariel (Abby), Brother Fernando (Stocka), Aunt Elena, Aunt Ruth, other aunts’ uncles and cousins. She will be dearly missed.
