Janene Angelete Thompson-Burrell

Janene Angelete Thompson Burrell of Tappahannock, Virginia was born December 21, 1960 to Robert and Marlene Thompson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 5, 2018.

Janene grew up in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Homewood, graduating from Taylor Allderdice Sr. High School. She married her husband Victor in September 1979. Their union was blessed with a daughter Courtney Marie.

Janene was very accomplished at balancing her home life, work life and continuing education. In addition to raising a daughter, her career employment included AT&T, the USO, Energy Engineering Resources, Kaufmanns and Verizon. She retired from Verizon as a manager in 2010. Additionally, she partnered with her sister to establish Twysted Sisters, a bath and body and painted glass business.

Janene attained her Bachelors degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and a Masters Degree in Project Management from the George Washington University. Throughout her career she received high accolades for her energy, creativity and completeness of tasks.

Janene was well-travelled and adventurous, and she established many valued friendships along the way. She and her husband lived in Charleston, West Virginia, Alexandria Virginia, back to Pittsburgh and finally to Tappahannock, Virginia, where they purchased their retirement home in 2016.

Affectionately known as “Nene, Maw Maw, Precious and Aunty”, Janene will be sorely missed. She leaves to mourn her loving husband and friend, Victor, her daughter Courtney (Kenneth A. Wood), three grandsons Devin Hatcher, Cameron Hatcher and Kenneth Wood III., parents Robert and Marlene Thompson, sister Samantha Thompson (Martin Scott) and many, many, many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.

Well done Janene! Rest in our Lord. You deserve it!
