After a life well-lived and a well-traveled journey, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, James N. Sawyer was called to eternity. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, October 22, 1943, to the late James R. Sawyer and Winnie A. Miller Sawyer, James was also preceded in death by two natural sons, Kip Michael James Sawyer and Byron James Sawyer, three sisters, Faythe Saunders, Elsie Howard and Judith Carter. James N. Sawyer was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system. After a long tenure with Nabisco Company in Bakery Square, he retired to enjoy his family and the activities he loved doing. James was an excellent bowler, he loved hunting and fishing, but most of his excitement came from travelling from state to state as a member in a Christian motorcycle club. James was a devout believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He enjoyed outings with his Pastor William Steward, his wife and many other church affiliates for many years. James is survived by one sister, Charma Killebrew, former wife, Laverne Maxine Lockhart; a daughter, Edlivia Laverne Sawyer; a son, Brandon T. Blye Sawyer; a daughter-in-law, Genieva Sawyer; three grandsons, Terry, Nosha and Brandon Jr.; two granddaughters, Chantel and Shi-ann; and great grandson, Sevyn; he will also be missed by a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins; James also had two close companions, Carol Locust and Phyllis James. The entire family will miss his sense of humor, his smile, and his laughter that was never ending. Though gone from our sight, he is forever in our hearts. We find comfort in knowing that he was a believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
