James Lee Reed Jr. was born on January 24, 1968 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Norma Reed (Eubanks) and the late James L. Reed Sr.
James graduated from Peabody Highschool. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. In addition to being stationed throughout the United States, James often shared fond memories of his time spent in Germany. He also served in Desert Storm. He returned home after being honorably discharged from his military service. James worked as a line cook at Three Rivers Stadium, until he became a State Corrections Officer. He retired from the department of corrections in 2018. He also obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Point Park University.
On September 27th 2003 James was joined in union to Nicole. From this union they have two sons, Devinn and Jayden. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. James loved family gatherings, road trips, dancing and listening to music and football season. Mostly, he enjoyed and took pride in cooking, creating and perfecting recipes. He cherished and fostered the connections he made while in the Army and at work.
James gave his life to Christ and was baptized in 2016 at Metropolitan Baptist Church. In 2020, he continued his Christian walk by joining All Rise Church. There he served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
After a short and unexpected struggle with cancer, James passed away on September 23, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
James was proceeded in death by his father James L. Reed Sr. sisters: Marva Howard, Patricia Reed and brother: Anthony Reed.
James leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Nicole, sons: Devinn and Jayden, mother: Norma Reed (Eubanks), sisters: Trina Williams (Robert), Gloria Howard, Chris Maness (Kevin) Yvonne Reed, brother: Raymond Howard (Rosa). Also, sharing in this homegoing celebration is a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
