James Lee Obituary

James Christopher Lee, better known as Jamie Lee, passed away on January 12, 2021. Jamie was born January 10, 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the union of the late James Samuel Lee and Katharyn Brooks Lee Seibles-Kiser. He was the eldest son.
Jamie attended and graduated from East Allegheny High School, class of 1981. While at East Allegheny, Jamie was a member of the school choir and participated in voice competitions. There he laid the groundwork for becoming a local singing talent. After high school, Jamie attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1985 with an Associate Degree in Interior Design. With his degree he gained employment at Value City Furniture Store in Monroeville, Pennsylvania becoming their Interior Designer responsible for artistically displaying the furniture and accent pieces to appeal to consumers. As part of his job, he also traveled with groups of designers to set up new store openings in various locations across the country. He also did private design consulting. He was the “design consultant” ’to his family. He was relied upon to give opinions on style and quality of furniture. He painted, framed art and excelled in just about everything artistic. In early 1997, Jamie relocated to Mishawaka, Indiana, taking the position of Designer at the Value City Furniture Store located there.
Jamie lived and worked in Indiana for eleven years before returning home to Pittsburgh, to work at Macy’s Department Store as the Regional Design Director for a short period of time.
Jamie was a deeply spiritual man, having joined Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ as a young teen. At Triumph he became a proud and beloved member and of the Western Pennsylvania State Choir under the leadership of the late Reverend Geneva Peay. There he established himself as a world class soloist and became a rising star known as a powerful and talented lead vocalist throughout the Triumphant church system. He notably took the lead on Triumphant songs, “Reaching for the Top”, ”The Joy of the Lord is my Strength” and “Running for Eternal Life”, to name just a few. He even composed his own song, “Receiving the Blessing”, playing the piano to introduce it to the State Choir. He attended countless school of wisdom conferences, state and local music conventions and biennial National Church Chautauqua. He loved being in the company of spiritual people and participating in the National Choir. He believed and lived by the Triumphant principles of “Life and Living” and to master, overcome, subdue and conquer everything that was not like God. He also was a requested vocalist and performed outside of the Church at weddings, musical programs and funerals. Of course, the family also relied on his singing talent whenever needed.
Jamie loved to travel, a hobby nurtured by his beloved Aunt Betty “B” Jeter, who died in 1996. He took his dream trip to Hawaii early last year. He loved Black Art and Black history, attending the Black History Studies classes held at the Homewood Public Library. He proudly attended the Million Man March on Washington D.C. with his mother in 1995. He loved everything Black.
Jamie deeply loved his Mother, retiring early to become her personal caretaker up until her death January 1, 2019. Jamie was devastated by the loss of his mother. He loved and was fiercely loyal to those he cherished including his siblings, nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.
The irreplaceable James C. Lee was proceeded in death by his father James Samuel Lee, mother Katharyn Brooks Lee Seibles-Kiser, and special aunt, Betty Jeter. He leaves to cherish and honor his memory, brothers; Gregory Robert Lee and Turner Leigh Seibles, III, sisters; Victoria A. Garcia
