James Trudell Hayden Sr, affectionately known as "Pancho", was born on June 12, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to James St Clair Hayden, (deceased) and Geraldine C. Hayden. He was the first child born to this union. Puncho was educated in the public schools in Pittsburgh, where he completed his secondary education at Schenley High School and matriculated at Community College of Allegheny County then furthered his education at Cheney University in Philadelphia, PA.
Pancho married, Sandra L. Mills in 1970 and they remained married for 49 years until the time of his death. From that union, they were blessed with four children. Pancho and Sandra remained in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for several years. He exhibited a strong work ethic, performing various jobs from the age of 18. Pancho made a career of driving the bus for Pittsburgh Port Authority (PAT) for 17 years after which he and his family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where he retired from Delta Airlines.
Pancho had a passion and zeal for people and life. He was very affectionate to everyone he knew and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spreading quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed patting his feet to Music and dancing when he could. Pancho spent hours on end listening to sports shows and western movies. One of his favorite past times was listening to Bible commentaries. Yes, Pancho loved the Lord and accepted him as his personal Lord and Savior several years ago! He would often sit and sing his favorite song, "I am not Forgotten."
Pancho was thought of as a kind and generous man who would make you laugh with his quick wit and funny one-liners, Although he went blind, Pancho always saw the bright side of any situation. His attributes could accurately be described as Caring, Loving, Affectionate, Generous, Compassionate, Intelligent, Encouraging, Positive thinking, Humorous, Easy going but strong, Long-suffering, Uncomplaining, Tolerant, and REAL!
Left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sandra L. Hayden, four children, James Trudell Hayden Jr. (Rochelle), Danielle Hughes (Terrence), Jamie Hayden (Todd), and Jaison Hayden (Audrey). 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving mother, Geraldine Hayden of Pittsburgh, PA, and his siblings; Debbie Hayden, Denise Sowell (Edward), Phyllis Hayden-Johnson (Stephen), Claire Hayden, and Keith Hayden-Woodson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and special friends.
