James T. Edwards

James Tommy Edwards was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 11, 1945, to Tommy Gordon Edwards and Sadie Powell Edwards. He is the oldest of three children. James, affectionally known as Jimmy, departed this life on February 9, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Sadie. He joined the church at an early age and continued in the singing and ushering ministries. The legacy of James’ spirit will live on through his family and friends. James’ commitment to his family was exceptional and heartfelt.

James is survived by his Sister Reverend Joan Parr and his brother Robert G. Edwards\Axlie and four nieces and nephews - Marla Thompson, Travis Thompson Sr, Robert G. Edwards Jr, and Shalom Robin Kumar\Barinder, and four great nieces and nephews - James Robert Edwards, Delsen Robert Edwards\Tate, Travis Jayden Thompson Jr, and Nina Axlie EdwardsSchroder and cousins Shirley Green from Atlanta Georgia and Brenda Edwards of Pittsburgh, PA and a host of family and dear friends. James is a long-time resident of the Waterford Street community, which he holds very dearly - one which is extremely supportive of each other.
