Jacqueline Wallace Obituary

Jacqueline Pollard Wallace came into this world on April 20, 1957, born to the late Rev. Dr. Theodore (T.I) Pollard and the late Madeline Gilchrist-Pollard. She fought a courageous fight and was victorious over her 7-year battle with ovarian cancer on Monday, March 10, 2025. She earned her wings and took flight to her Heavenly home. Jackie learned early the importance of having a relationship with God. She was, after all a “PK” or Preacher’s kid and as such subjected to all of the things that PK’s had to endure. She ushered with the youth, sang in many choirs both in church and community and was a member of the Jr. Missionary and later the adult Missionary ministries. However, she decided as a young adult that she needed to “get a life” and tried to escape the call of God on her life. That was not to be her story. Jackie was educated in the Pittsburgh and McKeesport Area School systems, graduating from McKeesport Area Sr. High School in 1975. She attended West Virginia University in Charleston but decided to return home & not complete her studies there. Realizing that call to the Ministry of Helps wasn’t going away and understanding that it was her passion to aid and care for others, she began working at Shadyside Hospital (UPMC Shadyside), as a Nursing Assistant. After a few years, she made the decision to reach for her lifelong dream and enrolled in their School of Nursing. Upon completing her studies and passing the certification, she became a Registered Nurse, specializing in Oncology. This was her calling, her ministry and she did it with passion for almost 40 years. While working, she made the choice to continue her education and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Waynesburg College. She then “left the floor” as a nurse to pursue a career as a Case Manager. She retired early a few years later to enjoy life with her family. Jackie was a member of several churches, due to the nature of her father’s vocation and calling, She was saved & baptized at the New Light Temple Baptist Church and was very active in the ministries at Bethlehem Baptist Church, McKeesport, Cornerstone Baptist Church, Shiloh Community Missionary Baptist Church and at the time of her transition, Rodman St. Missionary Baptist Church. Jackie was the mother of two beautiful children: Kevin Irwin Pollard, born April 3, 1975, and Shafond Lynn Wallace, born December 3, 1976. Her children were important stitches in the fabric of her life, bringing direction and focus. In later years, grandchildren were added to the tapestry, giving her world color and vibrancy. She loved them all fiercely. Jackie was a warm and friendly woman of God with a wacky sense of humor. She had a HUGE heart and an abundance of grace, especially for people that others would not naturally reach out to assist. Meeting her at the gates of Heaven are her parents, Dr. T.I & Madeline Pollard, her sister Lori J. Pollard, her grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members & friends. Those who remain to treasure their memories are her legacy; Son, Kevin (Julia) Pollard and daughter, Shafond Wallace; sisters, Norma PollardMorton, Christina Pollard Sweeney and Rev. Robin L. Pollard; grandchildren, Nicole Taylor, Kayla Thompson, Yasmine Wallace, Nathan Taylor, Theodore Pollard Wallace, Nyah Pollard and Xavier Manning; one great-grandchild, Alonna Taylor; nieces and nephew, JerVay Rodgers, George Gilchrist (Rebecca) KaTina Sweeney and Diasha Starks; great nieces, Kyleigh Colbert, Malaina, Jada, Aubrey, Keirra, and Georgia Grace; many other family members and friends
