Jackie was born on July 21, 1950, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Booker T. and Janet Sneed. She departed this life after a courageous battle with cancer at Fair Oaks Senior Living on January 31, 2025.
Jackie was educated in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from Westinghouse High School. After graduating, she earned her undergraduate degree from Chatham University, a master's from the University of Pittsburgh, and a principal's certification from Indiana University in Pennsylvania.
Jackie lived life to its fullest and loved people. Her gregarious personality enabled her to excel as an excellent educator with the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She truly demonstrated what it means to put students first and make sure they reached their potential. Jackie began her career as a classroom teacher and later became the director of the Jacob Javits Grant which was created to identify underrepresented students into the gifted program. She retired after 36 years of service.
After retirement, Jackie filled her spare time with various part time jobs that primarily involved her passion for working with children. Jackie was also an avid sports fan, and as a social butterfly, she found joy in working as concierge for suite holders at Acrisure Stadium. This allowed her to attend every sporting event and connect with the "who's who" of Pittsburgh.
Jackie was also an active member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Board Member for A+ Schools, and National Parent Involvement trainer,
It was very rare to see Jackie without her sister, Rosesharon. Whether it was doing the "wobble" together or trying their luck in casinos across the country, the bond they shared was undeniable. The love that they had for one another will live forever.
Jackie was loved by people of all ages. Not only did her beloved nephews refer to her as "Aunt Jackie" but so did countless other young people, which always brought a smile to her face.
Jackie will be dearly missed by her sister, Rosesharon Perdue (Dale), nephews, Brent Perdue (Nicole), Kyle Perdue (Adriana), aunt, Marlene Jones, great nieces, Chloe, Zoe, and Mia, great nephew, Blake, and a host of cousins, and all of her devoted friends.
