Jacqueline Blessitt, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the union of Rebecca Holmes and Walter Newman. She departed this temporal life in preference to life eternal on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Jacqueline (affectionately known as Jackie) was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system and graduated from Schenley High School. She began her career as a nurse’s aide for Montefiore Hospital then moved onto Magee Hospital as a Unit Clerk for the Labor Suite until her retirement. Jackie was united in marriage to Luther Blessitt. From that union, three children were born – Diane, George, and Patricia. Jackie truly loved her family and it showed every day. She raised her children to love each other no matter what, attend church services at Baptist Temple and Brushton Methodist, and always love the Lord. Jackie babysat and cared for her grandchildren whenever the need arose. She enjoyed having them around her. Every one of them has a story or remembrance they can share about their beloved grandmother. She loved cooking for her family, especially during the holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed watching her soap operas, the ID and Lifetime channels. Jackie could be called upon at any time to help a friend or look after a grandchild. She was greatly loved by all who knew her. She leaves to celebrate her life, children - Diane Blessitt Thompkins, George Blessitt, Patricia Blessitt and Kim Blair; Godson, Rob Rankin; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
