Gertrude Farrell

Gertrude was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system. She was a member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, until her health began to decline.

On June 17, 1941, she was united in Holy Matrimony with Jay Richard Farrell, who preceded her in death on October 31, 2014. She was a loving and devoted wife for 73 years. During this union, she lovingly raised 3 children, Sherdina B. Prince (Willie) of Pittsburgh, PA, Robin D. Willis (Barry) of Burlington, NC and Richard J. Farrell (Gwen) of West Bloomfield, MI.

Gertrude worked temporarily as a caregiver, but her main vocation was mother of the home, providing for her husband and children. We will cherish the love and care she showed to everyone she met, the warm and radiant smile she always greeted us with, her carefulness and concern for her family and friends will never be forgotten.

Precious memories of her will be cherished by her children, her granddaughters, Ronelle L. Smith of Pittsburgh, PA , Danielle N. Willis of Charlotte, NC, and Taylor C. Farrell of West Bloomfield, MI; her grandsons, Willie D. Prince of Pittsburgh, PA and Brandon J. Farrell of West Bloomfield, MI; six great-grandchildren and two great nephews and one niece.
