Geraldine Wilson, 89, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, entered eternal rest on August 17, 2025. Born in Clarksville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John (Hill) Green and Beulah (Penn) Woody-Green.
She married Melvin Wilson, Sr. on August 22,1953, and together they shared over four decades of marriage and ministry until his passing. Geraldine faithfully supported her husband in his pastoral calling while also serving in multiple roles at St. John Bible Center since 1976. She was First Lady, choir member, Sunday School Coordinator, kitchen committee member, and later served as an Associate Pastor.
Professionally, she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Washington Hospital and later at Mayview State Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1991. She was respected for her compassion, diligence, and professionalism.
Her faith in Christ was central to her life. She was known for reciting Psalm 100 and living by its truth: serving the Lord with gladness, treating people with love, and praying consistently for her family.
She is survived by her children: Melvin Wilson, Jr. (Pamela) of Youngstown, OH; Calvin L. Wilson ofUniontown, PA; Damon A. Wilson of Canonsburg, PA; and Zanetta L. Butler (Jimmy) of Pittsburgh, PA;her grandchildren Tyoko Wilson-Birt, Melvin WilsonIII,Tiffany Butler,Julian Wilson,Whitley Wilson,Aisha Davis,Calvin Wilson, Shannon Gatling, JaNay Horvath, Damon Wilson, Tyrone Wilson, JaronWilson, and Tyla Butler; her sisters IcieB. Green and Ruth Ann Bell; as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Wilson, Sr., grandson, Ryan Christopher Wilson, and siblings Harrison Woody, Kermit Woody Jr., Howard Green, Edward Green, Phillip Green, Roxie Woody, Helen Ward, Mary Thomas, Virginia Abrams, Edna Clements, and (Martha) Evelyn Miller.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at House of Law, Frankstown Road, Penn Hills, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow on Saturday, September 6,2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 2200 Wylie Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA.15219
