Gerald Lee Cathie Sr. was born to the late Ruefae and George W. Cathie on August 31, 1961. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Gerald is known as Uncle G., G-Money, P-pa, and a host of other names among family and friends. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. where he spent his early childhood. Later, he moved to New Jersey where he stayed and graduated from Edgewood High School. Upon completing high school, he joined the US Navy in 1979. After completing 6 years of active duty he was honorably discharged in 1985. After leaving the US Navy he returned home and joined the workforce. Where he obtained skills that allowed him to open his own business. After a successful business practice, he decided that he wanted to go back to school to contribute to his fellow service members. He attended CCAC where he became a certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor while working at the VA Hospital. Gerald was known amongst his family and friends as the life of the party with his jokester style and entertaining ways. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Sports Fan. Gerald was an artist who loved to draw. And he thought he was the best cook no one could out-grill him. Outside of caring for others, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Gerald made it his life's purpose to provide aid to each of his immediate family members and prided himself on caring for his loved ones. He was the true demonstration of a father and grandfather and if there was a need he would be there to love and support in whatever way he could. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents the late Ruefae and George W. Cathie. His beloved brother Nathaniel and sisters; Judy, Seretta, Faye, and Phyllis. He leaves to cherish his precious memories of his children Charice, Maurice, Gerald Jr., Shaunay, and Charles. Grandchildren; Destiny, Juan, Dajuan, Tristyn, Ariya, Marley, Zoey, and Gia. He also leaves to cherish is memories of his brothers and sisters George, Gilbert, Betty, Audrey, Donna, and Ronell, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Gerald was loved by all who know him, and his loving spirit will continue through his children and grandchildren.
