Georgia Dunnett (Truax) Tuite
Georgia Dunnett Tuite, 81, was born on December 18, 1942, at home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of George Truax and Helen Dunnett Truax. Georgia attended Plum High School and graduated from Allegheny Community College in 1991. She was employed at UMPC as an ultrasound technician for 10 years before she retired in 2004. Georgia loved being with her family and scrapbooking photos of her 6 children and 11 grandchildren. To date she has over 30 photo albums. She especially loved the yearly family reunions at Kennywood each June. She was an expert at making and hand decorating Christmas cookies which she started baking and freezing in the early fall. Georgia never missed an opportunity to make grand family meals when her children and grandchildren came to town and was the star chef at every picnic and family function with her stuffed cabbage and hot sausages. During winter gatherings, she was famous for her homemade lasagna and tomato sauce. Georgia attended many grandchildren baseball, basketball, soccer games, band concerts and dance performances over the years as she was able. Her immediate family extended to Newark, Detroit, Iowa City, St. Louis and Virginia Beach, and she made time to visit all of them. Seven years ago, she was finally provided with grandchildren in town and Georgia was able to participate in all the baby and toddler activities she missed with the other 9 grandchildren.
Georgia spent her entire adult life celebrating family and serving God and her savior, Jesus Christ through church, community service support, and bible study groups. A seasoned member of weekly women’s fellowship meetings for 20+ years, Georgia inspired and was inspired by her Christian sisters. Her well-worn bibles and study guides are a testament to her love for God, to know Him better and to make Him known to others.
Georgia passed peacefully in her bed on Monday, January 29, 2024, at her beloved home in Murrysville, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard Tuite, their daughter Jennifer, her parents, George and Helen Dunnett Truax, her sisters, Virginia (Verne) DeMichiei and Ruth (Robert) Duschl. She is survived by her brothers, Marshall (Sally)Truax and James (Debbie)Truax; children, Ellen (James) Esther, Dianne Cesarz, Amy (John) Havrilla, Karen (Richard) Jones, R. Vincent (Lindsey) Tuite, and Dennis Tuite; 11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
