Georgette Estilina Rice

Georgette Estilina Rice, was born on August 4, 1968, to the late Edna Lee Thompson and George “Mooch” Jefferson. Growing up, Georgette was given the nickname “Sister George” by her late Aunt Beacie and Aunt Jenny. Georgette attended Carrick High School where she played on the Girls Basketball Team and later Graduated from Connelly Technical Institute as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Georgette was Baptized at the Homewood Church of Christ where she also married the love of her life Samuel George Rice Sr. Together they raised 6 beautiful children, Robert, Errol, Britney, Samuel, Chance, and Kordell. Family meant everything to Georgette. Knowing her is to love her, her smile was BIG and BRIGHT, and she could take your day from bad to great, landing her with the nickname Sunshine by her coworkers, friends, and family. She was the epitome of Sunshine. Georgette lived to take care of any and everyone she came across in life. She was small but MIGHTY! Her children and grandchildren were her life, and she was theirs! No matter what or when Georgette had the greatest power as a mother to make everything better, she was Superwoman! She loved to cook, exchange recipes, and try new recipes, especially desserts. Georgette had a passion for singing and some of her favorites were Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Luther, and Phyllis Hyman just to name a few. She was an avid baseball player who referred to her glove as “Old Faithful”. Georgette also spent her time in bowling leagues with her husband. On March 31, 2023, Georgette departed this life for life eternal. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Tru King Rice. Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, her husband, Samuel George Rice Sr.; her children, Robert James Parham, Errol & Dawn Mangham (daughter-in-law), Britney Bianca Berry, Samuel George Rice Jr, Chance & Sabrina Rice (daughter-in-law), and Kordell Rice, Jaylynn Jones (significant other); Grandchildren Rayla Parham, Tre’Sur Horne, Erriel Mangham, Alexandria Morgan,Elijah Perkins, Pearis Hunter, D’Riyah Parham, Shancé Wellons, Chance Rice Jr, Ja’Saun Rice, Royalty Parham; Edna’s crew (her sisters) Yolonda “Boo” Thompson, Carla Thompson, Clara “Wendy” Thompson and Tina and Kenya (brother-in-law) Simpson; and host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. Georgette always ended her conversations whether by text or on the phone with “SMOOCHES”. Her legacy of love and kindness will never be forgotten.
