George Bernard Johnson was born December 2, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA. He departed this life in favor of Life Eternal at Shadyside Hospital on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 6:15 pm.
He was educated in the public school system in Newberry, South Carolina. He returned to Pittsburgh as an adult and was employed by Con Railroad until his retirement years. Bernard, as he was called, was a fun guy. He was always giving and enjoyed life.
Bernard gave his life to Christ and was baptised at Good Hope Church years ago.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Alberta, 6 children and 3 step-children. All but one, Tyrone Bennett, Ohio, lives here in Pittsburgh, Pa. Two sisters, Audrey Woods and Rochelle Grey of Pittsburgh, and one brother, Rev. Melvin Thomas of Los Angeles, California.
Bernard has joined his family who preceded him in death, Father Andrew Johnson, mother Helen Blanche, Son David Shelton, of New York and Aziz Porter of Pittsburgh, Pa. He has a host of other relatives and friends in Pittsburgh and Newberry S.C. where he spent his younger years as a child.
