Frederick Hurt

Frederick Hurt of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday March 23, 2020. He was 77 years old.

Fred was survived by his wife of 52 years June and his four children, Dolores, Constance (Jacob), Frederick and Cicely. He was also survived by 9 grandchildren, Amber, Raynelle, Danelle, Breona, Daquan, Julian, Jasaun, Imani and Freddy and 7 great grandchildren.

Fred was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late William Hurt and Leona (Anderson) Broadnax on February 5, 1943. We was raised in the Hill District and Northside areas of Pittsburgh along with his siblings Oliver Anderson (late), Jacquelyn Parker (late), William Hurt and Shirley McHenry. He was a graduate of Allegheny Vocational High School.

Fred and June met in 1966 and were married the following year. They settled and raised their 4 children in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania where they resided for over 40 years.

Fred worked at LTV Steel (formerly J&L Steel) in Hazelwood, PA for 32 years until the doors closed in 1998. He then went on to work at Three Rivers Stadium, Heinz Field and PNC Park.

Fred was a member of Good Samaritan Baptist Church on the Hill. Besides spending time with his extensive family and close friends, he also enjoyed bowling, going to the movie theater and the casino. He took great pleasure with watching both the Steelers and the Pirates.

Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and brother in law, uncle and good friend to all that knew him. He was hard working and kind hearted and will leave behind a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
