Evelyn Theresa Blue also known as “Pie” was born August 12, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Goldie and Alton Blue, Sr. Evelyn was the oldest of 5 sisters, Ella, Yvonne, Goldie, Myra, Garnette, and 5 brothers Alton Jr., Tyrone, Bruce, Eric, and Michael. She moved to Pittsburgh, PA in the mid-’50s. Evelyn obtained her GED and then went on to obtain her associate's degree from Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC). Evelyn and Eugene started a family, in which they had 4 beautiful children, 3 daughters, and a son. She also raised her granddaughter from birth to the present.
Evelyn worked as a home health aide and then started her own cleaning business, servicing commercial buildings and residential homes in Squirrel Hill. Every client she serviced, she extended her love to them, especially Dr. Ann Sutherland Harris. She was a member of Webster Avenue Christian Missionary Alliance Church (WACMA) where she served faithfully as an usher for many years. Her presence and her service were truly loved by the members of WACMA.
On March 27, 2022, Evelyn departed this life for life eternal. She was preceded in death by her parents Goldie and Alton Sr.; her sisters, Ella, and Yvonne; her brothers, Alton Jr., Bruce, and Eric; her grandchildren Tyra and Ramon, and her great grandchild, Raymera. Evelyn leaves cherished memories to her husband, Eugene; 4 children, Jeanette, Jonell, Carla, and Eugene Jr.; her granddaughter, Kendre who she raised from birth along with 14 other grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 Sisters, Goldie, Myra, and Garnette; 2 brothers Tyrone and Michael; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative family members and many friends. Evelyn was truly an amazing woman, a wonderful wife, beautiful mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
