Edward Thurston Briscoe, 7 5 of Finleyville, PA, passed away peacefully after a long battle with health complications at Baldwin Health Center on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Edward was born at home in Gastonville, PA in 1949 as the youngest son of Howard E. Briscoe and Helen M. (Saunders) Briscoe. Edward accepted Christ into his life at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Finleyville. After graduating from Monongahela High School, Edward went on to join the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. Once his service to his country was completed, he then went on to work for the Army Corps of Engineers for 25 years as a Lock and Dam Operator at Lock and Dam #4 in Charleroi, PA.
Edward was married to Lisa (Pavey) Briscoe and from this union had two daughters, Sara (Briscoe) Survinski, wife of Joshua Survinski, of Castle Shannon, PA, and Rachel Briscoe of Finleyville, PA.
Edward was active in his community in his younger years playing softball and coaching girl's youth basketball. He was a trustee and choir member with First Baptist Church of Finleyville. Edward was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He often tried to coach or call corrections to the teams from the other end of the television screen.
Edward is preceded to glory by his grandmother, Eva Saunders, his parents, Howard E. and Helen Briscoe, his oldest brother Howard (Buddy) Briscoe, older sister, Janice Briscoe, brother-in-law Rev.JamesArmstrong, and his niece Daneenjancuski.
Left to mourn Edward are his wife, Lisa Briscoe, daughters Sara Survinski Qoshua) and Rachel Briscoe, his precious granddaughter Hannah Survinski, his brother Herman Briscoe, Columbus, OH, his sister, Deaconess Bonnie Armstrong, Gastonville, PA, nieces, nephew, cousins, and a host of loving extended family and friends.
