Earlene Louise Smith of Highland Park, born October 21, 1942, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on November 4, 2024.
Earlene also known as “Toey” grew up in Pittsburgh PA. was the daughter of the Late Grace Jean Young and David Gore. She was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system. Earlene married Willis Gerald Johnson and had 2 loving children from that union, Geraldine Rene and Stacy. She then received her degree from the University of Pittsburgh and later worked as a Narcotics Detective at the same University. She was the owner of Sunny Side Nursing Home, and landlord for thirty-plus years. Earlene was also an active member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Some of her Hobbies growing up were: Sewing, Dancing, and singing Acapella with her friends in a corner Street Singing Group. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling. As a Wife, Mother, Grandmom & Great Grandmom Toey loved spending time with her family.
Earlene was preceded in death by her husband: Hubert Smith, Daughter: Geraldine Rene Taylor, Mother: Grace Jean Young, Father: David Gore, Sister: Ann Murphy, Brothers: Stafford, Carl, and Robert Parker. Left to Cherish her memory are her son Stacy Johnson and Son-in-law Geoffrey Taylor, her 6 grandchildren Zakia Bailey, Stacey Johnson, Gerald Johnson, Kyle Taylor, Courtney Taylor, and Mikayla Enterline. 9 great-grandchildren. Sisters Norma Parker-Griffin (Fred), Helen Thorne (Paul), Sylvia Gore, Sister-in-Law Mary L Parker and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends Francine and Viola (Viney)
