Dorothy J Frazier

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dorothy Jean Frazier (83), passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, surrounded by friends, family, and her loving husband of 64 years, James Frazier, Jr. in Monroeville, PA.

Dorothy was born on September 20, 1939, in Pittsburgh, PA to John Henry and Otis Mae Shackelford. Dorothy grew up in Elmore Square on the Hill District. She attended Fifth Avenue High School, class of 1957. Dorothy faithfully attended and served in several churches, including Christ Temple, First Baptist Church in Penn Hills, and Mount Ararat Baptist. She worked for PNC Bank and as a medical transcriber and retired from Precise Metal and Plastic, but the job she was most passionate about was wife and mother.

She enjoyed shopping, baking, sewing, traveling, and pro football (Steeler Nation, baby!). Her guilty past-time pleasure was cutting up on Facebook where she was famously known around the worldwide web as “Hot Dot!” Most importantly, she loved spending time with and cooking for her family, including Wil!. Her delicious cakes and pies were often the highlight attraction at numerous weddings and parties. Dorothy’s food brought so much love to those who were fortunate to partake that she even wrote a cookbook full of mouthwatering recipes so families and friends can continue to enjoy for generations.

In addition to her husband James, Dorothy is survived by her sons James III and twin sons Scott (Cynthia) and Eric (Jori); her only daughter Pamela; her grandchildren Terri, Brianna, Derrick, Dallas, Zion, Davonte, and Joshua; her great-grandchildren Aubriana, Autumn, Alani, Alaysia and Milan; and her two sisters Carolyn Walker and Elizabeth White (James). She was preceded in death by her siblings Odessa Stoddard, John, Frank, Joseph, James, and William.
