Doris Frazier Obituary

Doris Hayes Frazier, 94, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord

surrounded by family on Monday, May 1, 2023.

She was the daughter of the late James Drew and Alice Drew Early.

After receiving her education, Doris worked at the University of Pittsburgh as a Desk

Attendant for over 20 years. She gave her life to the Lord at a young age and was baptized

at the age of 12 at Macedonia Baptist Church. Doris loved the Lord with all of her heart &

soul and taught her family to do the same.

Doris fervently served the Lord telling everyone who would listen, about her heavenly

Father. She had a scripture solution to whatever problem anyone discussed with her. Doris

was a very active member at Brushton United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir,

served on the Board of Ushers, directed weddings, directed the kitchen staff, and helped

develop and implement their first food bank. She was also the president of Brushton

United Women and did whatever else her hands found to do.

Growing up Doris loved track, gymnastics, baseball, and reading. Later in life, she grew to

be an avid golf enthusiast. She loved art, musicals, and the symphony, and enjoyed various

genres of music including gospel, classical, jazz, and opera, especially sung by Leontyne

Price. Doris loved working within The Vintage Senior Services, Pittsburgh.

This Mother’s Day weekend 2023, we celebrate the life of our mother, Doris Hayes Frazier;

a wise, sharp-witted, humorous, down-to-earth, persevering, kind-hearted, tough yet gentle,

honest, forgiving, confidant, and most importantly a Praying Godly Woman. She will

forever be in our hearts.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Frazier; son, Leslie “Steve” Hayes;

and sister, Margaret Harp. She is survived by her loving children, Linda Hayes, Elder
