Donald E. Patterson, Jr., was born November 11, 1958 to Shirley (deceased) and Donald E. Patterson, Sr. He was educated in the Cleveland, Ohio school system and graduated in 1977. Donald also received higher education at Cleveland Community College. Additionally, he moved to Pittsburgh in 1983 where he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and became a bustling player in the city as a Jazz, R&B, Funk and Soul promoter, educator and visionary to increase the knowledge and history of American Music and Culture to everyone. Donald was also one of the founders of the Soul Show on WYEP and over the years worked at both the Kingsley Association in East Liberty and the Afro American Music Institute in Homewood, where he was very instrumental in assisting in fundraisers to promote African Culture, Awareness and Knowledge! Donald was a multi-tasker and he was involved in many events and fundraisers to support the cause and efforts for the betterment of Black Culture and Awareness.
Donald was the eldest child of two, however, close to the hip of his little sister Donna Sinclair of California. Donna and Donald were inseparable as the only two children of Shirley and Donald Patterson Sr. Donald was well known as "Tonka", as a young child named after a Native American Disney Character. Donald is loved by his Family and Community. His physical absence and spirit will live forever!
Donald E. Patterson, Jr. leaves to mourn and cherish his Memory, his Father Donald Patterson, Sr. his daughter Deresha Patterson of Pittsburgh, his son Dante' Meadows-Patterson, his sister Donna Sinclair of California, three grand-children, three nieces, two nephews and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, family and friends.
