Denise Antoinette Jones, affectionately known to family and friends as “Neicy”, was born on October 31, 1961, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Sarah Lillian Everett and Cecil Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandfather Marshall L. Everett Jr., brother Jeffrey Everett, sister Victoria Lavern Jones-Young, and Uncle William Everett.
Denise attended and graduated from George Westinghouse High School, Class of 1980. In her time at Westinghouse, she found her passion in the childcare program. She became a volunteer in the Pittsburgh Public School System and spent more the 15 years shaping young minds in the Head Start program at Belmar Elementary School. “Ms Neicy” also became the caretaker for many of the neighborhood children, following in the footsteps of her mother at the big house on Lang and Fielding Way.
Denise’s desire to care for her own family became a reality as she welcomed her only daughter, Tenicha Antoinette Pack, on August 11, 1984. “Aunt Neicy” extended her family circle and became a mother figure caring for her nephews, Desmond & Keenan Young. Her blessings continued and she earned the name “Grandma” on May 11, 2006, with the birth of her granddaughter Tenajiah Julianne Marbury who is her pride and joy.
A quiet but sweet spirit, with an infectious laugh, was a stranger to none and a friend to all. She was a devoted daughter who took on the mantle and followed GOD’s Commandment to “Honor thy Mother “and became the primary caregiver for her Mother, Sarah, until her untimely passing in April of 2022.
She found peace in her church and attended faithfully at Morningside Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Howard Washington.
Neicy transitioned peacefully into eternal rest in accordance with God’s plan on October 22, 2025, at her home with her Bonus Sister Stacey Gambrell at her side and who has been her exemplary caregiver for the past few years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter: Tenicha Pack, granddaughter: Tenajiah Marbury, Brother: Hakeem Muhammad, Sister April Cunningham (Darrell); Nephew’s Desmond Young & Keenan Young, Elijah & Jamaal Everett, Jamar Everett, Akeem Everett, Ishmael Everett & Xavier Cunningham; Nieces; Shauntay Everett, Natalie Cunningham; Great Nieces & Nephews: Malachi Temple, Gabreyel Everett, Skylar Renee’ Young- Luckey, Ja’Siah Young, Kymere Sherrill and host of cousins and extended family in the Everett Family, Jones and Gee Families.
