Deborah Blocker Obituary

borah Deonna Blocker, affectionately known as “Dea Block,” the daughter of Leonard Quincy Banks and Louise Brown Banks, stepmother, Margie Marie Banks, was born May 4, 1961, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Wilkinsburg High School, she was awarded a full basketball scholarship to Point Park University. During her college years, she doubled as the girls’ basketball coach at Wilkinsburg High School. It was there she met and married her husband the late Kenneth A. Blocker and became “Mama Bear” the world’s best mother and had two beautiful children, Kenneth L. Blocker, and Kimberlee Deonna Marie Blocker.
Deborah had an unquenchable quest for knowledge and received degrees, certificates, awards, merits and held positions in the following areas: dental assistant, daycare owner/operator, EMS, stenographer, SONY manager, professional football player for the Pittsburgh Passion, Greyhound bus driver, Port Authority (Driver, Maintenance Worker, Union Representative), florist, personal trainer, and insurance agent.
However, her final and favorite employment venture was as the owner of her own fitness enterprise franchise and spotlight boot camp, Camp Gladiator, shortly after moving to North Carolina. Debi was passionate about families becoming “stronger and healthier together.” She had an undeniable love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Debi was a member of Hope and Deliverance Ministries and recently recommitted her life to the Lord Jesus Christ.
She will be extremely missed by her children Kenneth L. Blocker and Kimberlee Deonna Marie Blocker.
Grandchildren: Deonna Blocker, Nadia Blocker, Yara Blocker
Siblings: Staria Cain, Jacquelynn Denson, Linda Banks, Timothy Banks Sr, Mary McNeil, Donald Royal, and surrogate Terri Michele. Brother-in- law James Willoughby Jr and Ricardo Powe.
Nieces: Erica Ray, Kayla James, Brieanna James, Angelena Banks, Enid Williams, Athena Rose, Chanel Rose, LeeLynn Banks, Serenity Hatcher, Amanda Royal.
Nephews: Gregory Cain, Gary Cain, Dawane James, Chris Royal, Matthew Royal, Dominic Royal.
And a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.
