David Ray Griffin Sr. was born in Hawthorne, California on April 14, 1971. He was the son born to Agnes Magee Yates and Billy Ray Griffin.
He attended the 75th Elementary School, Bethune Junior High School and graduating from the California Conservation Corps. In 1998, David moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the Community College of Allegheny County where he received his Associate Degree in Science.
He was employed at the UPMC Shadyside Hospital and Magee Women’s Hospital. David then received his Fireman 1 certification and began working for the West Mifflin Fire Department.
David met and married Melondie Henderson and to this union four children were raised: Nikkia, David, Izamrri and Ishibly. Sadly, they divorced.
David enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved photography, traveling, and most of all being a firefighter. He was very athletic and enjoyed playing every sport. David was an avid learner and was constantly studying, striving to obtain more knowledge. This was an attribute he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He believed that you could never learn to much and education was the key to power.
At 11:52 am on September 8, 2022, David took his last breath and departed this life for life eternal. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Griffin, father-in-law, William Knox Henderson and mother, Eloise Virginia Henderson.
He leaves cherished memories to his children, Nikkia Shavon Griffin,

Ex-wife Melondie Henderson of California; mother, Agnes Magee Yates; siblings, , Lakeysha Griffin, Andre Griffin, Michael Griffin and Gregory Griffin; grandchildren, Zariyah Griffin, Ke’ron Crew, Tay’vionGriffin, Patience Thomas, Zakyia Griffin, Xamiya Griffin, Xoyhn Griffin, and Forever (Freedom) Griffin, and Bentley Jasper; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives friends.
