Darnell S. Campbell Jr.

Darnell Shaphen Campbell Jr. was born on October 29, 2013, at Magee hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Tiree Sloan and Darnell Campbell Sr. He peacefully transitioned from this life on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Darnell attended Dilworth Elementary School and was in the progress of completing the 1st grade. This school year he studied classes online in his Super Mario-themed bedroom. Darnell was a High Honor Roll student; his favorite subject was math.

Darnell expressed that he wanted to be a software engineer when he grew up, he may have learned about that profession on YouTube, the website he would trick his mom’s friends into letting him watch when she wasn’t around. To prepare for this profession, dad gifted him an OSMO Genius Coding starter kit which he mastered. On a regular day, you could find Darnell with the most stylish clothes and his favorite pair of sunglasses. A bag of lays potato chips in one hand and his Nintendo switch in the other. He loved to play Super Mario Kart, Smash Brothers, Sonic, and Roblox. He was also a fan of Anime.

If not playing Nintendo he was begging his mom for more screen time to play games on his iPhone. Yes, he was 7 years old with an iPhone. Darnell also loved to play baseball, he played yearly with the Greenfield Baseball Association. He also enjoyed car concerts to all genres of music. Besides his yellow bag of plain Lays potatoes chips Darnell’s favorite food was turkey bacon. He could also tell you all the places in the city to get the best French fries. Darnell was kind, welcoming, and always invited everyone to play. His upbeat energy was contagious. He never fell short of expressing his love. We will miss him.

Darnell leaves to cherish his memory, Mother Tiree Sloan, Father Darnell Campbell Sr.; Grandmother Sylvia Moore & Wally Lewis, Grandfather Alphonso Sloan; Uncles Duane and Lamar Moore, along with a host of cousins, family, and friends.
