Connie J. (Wiley) Thaxton-Smith

Connie Juanita Wiley Thaxton-Smith of Liberty Boro McKeesport, PA died peacefully at home on August 13, 2025 at the age of 83. Born on September 23, 1941 in Crestas Terrace, North Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Parris Clinton Wiley and Lillian Spencer Wiley and the baby girl of 18 siblings. She is survived by her loving husband Clyde Darnell Smith, Sr.; cherished children Shawnette Thaxton, Dawn Thaxton, Ronda Thaxton, and Patrice "PJ" Thaxton of McKeesport, Parris Thaxton of State College, PA and Lorenzo Thaxton of Savannah, Georgia; stepsons Clyde Darnell Smith, Jr. (Jackie) of North Versailles and Aaron Smith Sr. (Jamie) of West Mifflin; a sister Mary Wiley Jeters of Vacaville, California; twenty four grandchildren - Mahogany Thaxton, Rashad Thaxton, Kimiko Steward (Maquale), Malia Belton (Troy), Joey Thaxton, Blayr Thaxton, Maya Hanson-Thaxton, Cayan Thaxton, Skyler Thaxton, Klein Thaxton, Nolan Thaxton, Raven Thaxton, Malik Thaxton, Connie Ogrosky (Jason), Summer Thaxton, Macaiah Thaxton, Mateo Thaxton, Alexis Smith, Kiera Smith, Chase Smith, Darnell Smith III, Amora Smith, Brennan Ringloff, and Aaron Smith Jr.; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant granddaughter Brooke Thaxton and infant great grandson Jeremiah Ogrosky. 

Connie was a follower of Jesus Christ and a member of the Jehovah Witness Congregation in McKeesport. She had many professional positions but retired from the McKeesport Daily News. Always dressed with grace and style, she was beautiful inside and out. She loved her family deeply and will be forever missed. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 3pm at the Trafford Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (14051 PA-993, Trafford, PA 15085).
