Clara Mae Harrington was born on April 14, 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the only child born to Henry and Mattie Williams. Clara graduated from Fifth Avenue High School at the age of 17. She received her LPN training at Montefiore Hospital and went to work at Magee Women's Hospital in Oakland. Clara was truly "An Accomplished Woman" of her time. She loved traveling and was blessed to travel the world. She had a passion for flowers and plants. Her favorite colors were fluorescent, purple and blue. Clara was an accomplished swimmer and a wonderful cook. Clara's family loved her holiday feasts, especially her homemade apple pies, sweet potato pies and her specialty was Orange Mousay. Clara was an avid community servant she volunteered for the Hill House Association and received numerous accolades from various organizations. Clara received a Citation from The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She was a devoted member of OES and served as Matron of Star of Bethlehem Chapter No. 7 and served as its Chaplain. She also served the Persian Court No. 8, Daughters of Sphinx, as Chairperson of the Grand Council of Deliberation Fellowship Committee and as the Grand Lecturer of Omega Grand Chapter, OES. Clara was a lifelong member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Pittsburgh where she was well-know for her oratory skill. She served her church as a deaconess, a senior choir member and clerk of announcements. Clara was an extraordinary citizen who exemplified the spirit of community. Her wish was to be adorned in her regalia upon her passing. Clara gave birth to one child Jean Harrington Williams who preceded her in death in 2004. Clara leaves to cherish her memory of 103 glorious years to her grandchildren Vernon Harrington Williams (Towanda), Edward Williams and Alicia Williams Chisholm (Robert) ; her great grandchildren Orlando Williams, Kristen Alicia Chisholm, Vernon Williams Jr., Jada Jean Williams, Robert Lee Chisholm, III, T'juan Williams; great great grandchildren Aniyah Jean Chisholm, Alani Jean Chisholm, Jasiel Reed Chisholm, Mia Williams. Ava Williams and a host of family and friends. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
