Christopher Alexander Grimes was born on May 23, 1993, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late Melvin S. Gay and Stacie Grimes.
At a young age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his saviour and was baptized at Sixth Mount Zion Church.
He attended Friendship Academy, St Benedict the Moor in middle school & was a proud graduate, "Class of 2011," at Central Catholic High School & continued his education at Slippery Rock University.
Christopher's love for football was a lifelong passion. He played throughout grade school with the Garfield Gators & was co-captain of the "CHAINGANG" his senior year with the Central Catholic Vikings in high school.
He started his career with the City of Pittsburgh, but his true calling was with the United States Postal Service for over 12 years.
To know Christopher was to know kindness & Generosity. He never met a stranger. Every person in the world to him was a friend he hadn't met & his warm personality made you feel welcome. His bright smile & infectious humor brought joy to everyone & his willingness to help others was one of his defining qualities. Whether it was offering a helping hand, sharing a word of encouragement, telling a joke, or simply being a loyal friend. he had a deep compassion for others & never hesitated to check in on their well-being.
Christopher departed this life unexpectedly to be with the Lord on May 1, 2025. He was a devoted son, a dedicated father, a loyal brother, and a cherished nephew, cousin, and friend to many. Preceding him in death were his father, Melvin S. Gay; grandparents, Emanuel Gay sr and Sandra-Jo Sidney; great-grandparents, Arthur Sidney(Alnora) & Robert A Smith; and great-uncle Kirk Sidney; & Robert E. Smith. He leaves behind his mother Stacie Grimes; his brother Sean Grimes; his children Christina Marie, Chad Michael, Chance Anthony, Shaye-DeRon, Alexander Christopher, Dominique Doreece; grandparents, Arthur Grimes(Renee); great-grandmother Gwen Smith; great-aunts/uncles Kim S. Long, Stewert Sidney, Regina Smith, Celeste Lewis(Cedric); aunts/uncles Michael Gay Sr(Cheryl), Arnita Long, Emanuel Rawlings(Tina), Tamara Rawlings, & Monica Grimes; niece Rhyan Sidney, godparents, Anthony Gee(Jacqueline).
Christopher's presence, joy, love, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
