Chester Arthur Lee went home to be with the Lord peacefully after a long battle with cancer at the home of his granddaughter, Tamika Utterback, his devoted caregiver, along with her son, Zyaire (ZY) Brown who lived with him.
Chester was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 6, 1939. He was the seventh of thirteen children.
He was educated in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and he also attended Conley Trade School where he learned many skills, using them through out his adult life.
Chester was employed with the Housing Authority, Pittsburgh Public School System, Urban League, Director, Pittsburgh Multi-Purpose Center and Giant Eagle.
He was active in the Civil Rights Movement, Politics and would volunteered for various orangizations.
Chester was a sports fan of football (Steelers), but he loved basketball and enjoyed playing the game with friends from a young age through adulthood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Temple and Irene Lee, sisters Betty Lee Thornhill, Elva Lee Busey, and Myrna Lee Williams; brothers, Albert, Ronald, Robert, Ernest and John.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Robyn Louise Bailey.
Chester leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Erica Lee and a son, Michael Lee, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.
His remaining siblings are Norma Lee Norman (Daniel) Fayetteville, NC., Shirley Lee Parker (Fred) Penn Hills, PA, Allen Lee, Alaska and Larry Lee (Yong) Portland, Oregon and a host of relatives and friends.
