Cheryl Carlock Obituary

Cheryl LaVerne Carlock, formerly of Donora, went home to be with Lord on January 4, 2026, in Virginia, where she resided with her sister. Cheryl graduated from Ringgold High School, Donora campus in 1979. Known to be a fierce protector of her younger siblings, she never backed down from a challenge. Many people were not aware that Cheryl demonstrated amazing talents in art, poetry, and writing short stories, because she never had anything published. A movie buff, Cheryl had a collection of at least a thousand DVD's, and found pleasure in watching soap operas and planned her activities around their air times. Doing word-search puzzles and reading occupied much of Cheryl's time until she experienced impairment in her vision. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Cheryl could be seen sporting her black and gold. She began her walk with Christ in the 1980's and was a member of Bethel Worship Center in Springfield, Virgina, where she attended services when physically able, under Pastors Jonathan and Quanetta Lewis.

After high school, Cheryl enlisted in the U. S. Army, where she achieved the rank of (E) Sergeant working in telecommunications and videography and receiving many accommodations and awards for outstanding job performance. In addition, she received the Bronze Star as she was injured in performance of her service duties. Serving in Desert Storm, Cheryl did 3 tours in Germany and was also stationed at fort irwin in California for a time. Working at the Pentagon afforded her the unique opportunity to work with Steven Spielberg and Montel Williams on an assignment. After twelve years of service, Cheryl was honorably discharged due to a medical condition and became an interpreter as a civilian and continued her career in telecommunication.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Neil Carlock, Sr., and her mother, Mary Ann Carlock; a sister, Mary Louise; a brother, Eugene Neil Carlock, Jr.; She is survived by her daughter, Kisha Monet Carlock; one uncle, Rev. Ronald (Glendel) Moon of Maryland, who mourn her death along with six sibling: Patricia Carlock, Ohio; James Carlock, Charleroi, PA; Anita (Benjamin) Evans, Virginia, with whom she resided; Catherine (Reuben) Brown, Donora; John (Kisha) Carlock, Virginia; Mark (Susan) Carlock, California; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; her BethelCenter Worship and Whole Truth church families and friends.
