Charlotta Jenkins Obituary

Charlotta (Carla) Jean Jenkins was born on November 30, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Delores Carpenter Johnson and the beloved late James Jenkins Sr. Carla was called home to Glory on December 28, 2024. Carla began her education through Pittsburgh Public Schools and ended up graduating from Wilkinsburg High School. She went on to Sawers School of Business for Medical Assistant and received rewards for her high achievements, especially being known as the fastest typist. Carla held several different jobs until she made a career at UPMC for 30+ years working in the emergency room department. Carla was the oldest of her siblings. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Cochran and her sister Carol Taylor. Carla is survived by her son; Jarvis Jenkins and daughters; Dionne Jenkins, Charla Moorefield (Walter) and 3 stepchildren; Rod Lee (Michele), Rica Lee (Haryl) and Chuck Wilkes. She is also survived by her sister; Desra Johnson (Bill) and 5 brothers; Jeffrey Jenkins, Robert (Michael) Brown, Richard Carpenter, William Carpenter (Rose), Tyree Carpenter and stepsisters/stepbrothers; Donna Brown, Diane Rogowski, James Jenkins Jr., Michelle Carpenter and Annette Carpenter. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Shan Womack, Shep Womack, Shayla Womack (Kyle), Shaina Womack, Walter Moorefield, Taylor Moorefield and Dontai Moorefield. Carla is also survived by her great-grandchildren; Damajae Martin, Damari Martin, Damiya Martin, Damariss Martin, Kyle Fisher, Percy Law V. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Carla enjoyed making people laugh. She was good spirited and truly fun-loving. She really enjoyed having a great time with family and friends and her home was always the spot to go to. Carla was a person who enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed travelling and playing cards. Her spirit could light up any room, she will be missed for her smile, her laugh, her sense of humor, and her ability to make everyone feel loved. She energized those around her with her infectious love and empathy for all.
