Charles Williams, age 78, transitioned this life peacefully on February 12, 2025, with loved ones at his side. Born August 21, 1946, in Charleroi, PA, he was the son of the late James Williams, Sr. and Laura Mae Wilson Williams. Along with his father, Charles was raised by his late grandmother, Lottie Stokes. In addition to his parents and grandmother, he was preceded in death by brothers James ("Huno") Williams, Jr and Bernard ("Man") Dixon; sisters Vergia Jean Dixon-Cunningham, Darletta Dixon-Strothers and Norvella Dixon. Charles was a lifelong resident of Donora and graduated from Donora High School. He retired from U.S. Steel Irvin Works plant as a warehouse attendant. Charles had a gifted voice and was a self-taught pianist. He loved music and in the 3rd grade, along with his friends, formed a group called the " Elquintones", performing through his middle school years. As a young man, Charles enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson during summer months. Charles loved entertaining his family with cookouts and swimming parties at his home. He also enjoyed videotaping his sons’ sports events and from 1990 through the early 2000's he would video the church's annual Childfest services. As a young child, Charles, his grandmother, Lottie Stokes, father James along with his siblings James Jr and Marsha were the first members of the Whole Truth Church of God in Christ in Donora which was founded by the late Bishop Maurice B Wade, Sr, in 1953 and is where his spiritual roots were planted. Charles recommitted his life to Christ during a revival service at Whole Truth in June 2017 and was a member of the Men's Choir. Charles married Francine Sloan-Williams on October 8, 1977, and born to that union are sons, Charles ("Chaz") B. Williams, Sr. and Scott A. Williams are left to cherish his memory along with his very dear sister, Marsha Williams Burgess and his nephew and niece, Anthony Burgess and Tina Burgess who were very special to him. Left to cherish his memory are the following, his brother, Jeffrey Williams; sisters, Linda Dixon-Reddick, Anita Dixon-Jones, Dorothy Williams and Tressa Williams; aunts, Frances Wilson, Dolores Alligood and Lavania Dorothy Byrd; 8 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special sister-in-law Carmen Grogan.
