Charles Jones, Jr. Obituary

Charles Odell Jones Jr., 74, was called home on April 22, 2026, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 11, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Charles was the second-born son of Bessie I. White and Charles Jones Sr.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Bessie White; and his siblings, Brian White, Roy Jones, Sherry Jones, Denise Roberson, and Diane White.

Charles graduated from Marion Center High School in Marion Center, Pennsylvania, in 1969. He went on to attend Mansfield State College in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, where he earned recognition as an All-American basketball player. Following his time in college, he enrolled in the Connelly Trade School Engineering Program in Pittsburgh, earning an associate degree and briefly working in the radio industry. Charles later found his calling in the transportation industry, beginning his railroad career with Conrail, where he quickly advanced to the position of Trainmaster. After the company was acquired by Norfolk Southern, he continued to serve as a lead Trainmaster until his retirement on October 2, 2013.

Charles had a passion for cooking, music, and dancing, and he was known for his joyful spirit and love of laughter. A natural jokester, he delighted in making others smile. He also enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spending cherished time with his family-especially his beloved granddaughters, who brought him immense joy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 52 years, June Peak of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his two daughters, Bryan Jones and Yolanda Jones of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his two granddaughters, August Collins and Aubry Jones; his brother, David White of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; and his sister, Carrie White of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at House of Law Funeral Home, 9406 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills, Pennsylvania 15235.
