In Loving Memory of Chuckie
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuckie” Jones, a man whose spirit was as boundless as the rivers he loved to fish and as joyful as the music he played. Born to Marilyn and Charles Senior, Chuckie was a son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend whose warmth and laughter could light up any room.
A proud graduate of Penn Hills High School, Class of 1974, Chuckie’s early years were shaped at Homewood Elementary and Holy Rosary. On the baseball field, he stood out for his talent and team spirit, but his first love was always music. A gifted musician, he poured his soul into every note, sharing his passion with anyone lucky enough to hear him play as a bassist in Ras Prophet, The Flow Band and Tomorrow’s Children.
Chuckie was an avid fisherman, a loyal fan of Pittsburgh sports, his favorite being Pirates baseball, and he truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Whether casting a line, playing the guitar, or cracking a joke, he had a larger-than-life personality that made everyone feel like family. To know Chuckie was to know unconditional kindness, unshakable loyalty, and a heart as deep as the waters he fished.
Above all, Chuckie cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved mother, Marilyn; his devoted daughter, Simone Hilty (Jeffrey) and his treasured granddaughters, Sydney and Isa Hilty who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his loving sisters, Bunny Higgins and Donna Jones and the memory of his Father, Charles Jones Sr., and his brother Tony Jones, who preceded him in death. Nephews Anthony Jones, Justin Hunter-Jones and niece Kiara Higgins; and a host of many family and friends. His loyal feline companion, Rico, never left his side and brought him endless comfort. Chuckie was, without a doubt, everyone’s best friend. His legacy lives on in the laughter he sparked, the music he made, and the love he gave so freely.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
