Charita Lee Austin was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on June 22, 1954. She was the second of three children born to the union of Wilbert Austin, Sr. and Sylvia Austin.
She was raised in the Hazlewood section of Pittsburgh. She attended Gladstone Elementary and South Hills High School where she enjoyed being the favorite of all her teachers and creating many life-long friendships. She was well known in the Pittsburgh area as a generous party host if you can remember, and if you don't... tsk...tsk...tsk.
Charita loved being a bus driver and was the matriarch of the Port Authority Corporation where she retired from. As the years went on, she went back to doing what she loved and joined the Krise Transportation community, where she was known for her outgoing personality and her color-coded outfits.
Charita was also known as "The Cheech" and was devoted to her family who sought after for advice or a shoulder to lean on by her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She loved playing with her many animals, going on fun adventures around the world, and creating many memories with her grandchildren and loved ones.
On February 25, 2025, Charita departed this life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Sylvia Austin, and her son, Philip Joseph Stotts.
Charita leaves behind her daughter, Tracy Hall-Berry; son-in-law Duane Berry; four grandchildren, Faith Hall, Johnathan Hall, Cheyenne Stotts, and Chandler Thomas; two brothers, Shane Austin and Philip Austin, Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Yolanda Austin and Nikita Austin; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
