Carolyn Henderson, the firstborn of eight children to the late Lilly Shaw, was born June 30, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA. She departed this life on December 14, 2023.
Carolyn attended Schenley High School where she received her diploma. She also attended CCAC and earned her Associate's degree in Child Development. She would go on to explore different careers such as a substitute teacher, Three Rivers Youth, and she retired from LTV Steel.
Carolyn was a spiritual person and faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. In her free time, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends. She was a loving and caring person who would open her heart and doors to others. That's why she had a lot of adopted children and grandchildren. She also didn't mind telling you what was on her mind and didn't care if you liked it or not. Most importantly she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved her family period.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Cynthia (Rena, Ronald, Rhonda, Serita, and Tangier), her sons Nathan (Natra), Robert (Robbie and Toya), Steven (Shatea, Katasha, Poohba, Chara, Little, Savannah, and Malik), sisters Debbie (Ahmid and Marlo), Denise (Carmen), Kim (Bree), her Aunt Von (Kevin and Danny), her nieces and nephews, Nisa (Greg), Ron (Takiyah)< Abdul (Allison), Tiara, Jaretha, and Reggie. She also leaves 22 great-grandchildren. Her brothers in Law Donnie and John, her adopted grandchildren Layla, Amber, Jayla, Jade, Sarayah and long time friend William Gweynn and god daughters Miesha and Darica and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother Lilly Shaw, husband Howard Henderson, Aunt Lois, and Aunt Betty, her longtime companion Silas Adams, her sisters Joanne and Gloria, brothers Henry and Robert, daughter in Law Robyn, nieces and nephews Lil Bit, Tracey, Frankie, Tank, Shawn and David, her adopted daughter Yvonne Powell, grandson in Law William, very good friends Roberta, Dorothy, Annie, Harriet, and Ms. Julia.
