Obituary
Brenda Jean Hester was born on March 21, 1953 in Newport News, VA to Raymond Hester, Sr. and Marion L. Hester both of whom preceded her in passing. Brenda passed into the presence of the Lord on May 11, 2021.
Brenda Jean Hester received her LPN Certification in Nursing at Community College of Allegheny County. Brenda delighted in her work as a Caregiver and Private Duty Nurse for over 20 years; many clients became her friend. Brenda was a lifelong caregiver of her siblings and relatives; providing for everyone’s needs and wishes. She was self-educated and exceptionally knowledgeable in many subject areas. If we needed information or guidance on anything we contacted Brenda.
Brenda was the Family and Community Historian and Communicator. She knew any information you needed or desired about our Family Tree and/or about the Families of the Hill District. Brenda kept us all well informed about important events.
Brenda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and was a long-time member of Bethany Baptist Church in Homewood. Her Christian Service extended to doing intercessory prayer for family, friends, and the community for many years. Brenda, along with her brother Ray, faithfully prayed for several hours in the mornings and several hours in the evenings for everyone; seven days a week over the telephone. She prayed with other family members and friends on a daily basis as well.
Brenda Jean Hester is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Hester, Sr. and Marion L Hester, brothers Charles and Dwight, Sr. She leaves to mourn her adopted son Dwight Hester, Jr. (Makayla, Ellia), brothers and sisters, Raymond Hester, Jr., Angela Smith, Henry Hester, Desiree Hester, Monica Hester, Shannon Turk, a close friend John A. Thompson, nieces and nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
