Mrs. Betty Jean Jasper, the youngest child of Rochester and Sarah ( Pharrams) Stinson was born on December 24, 1940, in Columbus, Georgia. She was educated in the Muscogee County public school system, graduating from Spencer High School. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Betty met the love of her life, Luther Marcellus Jasper, Jr. (affectionately known as June), and they wed in 1971. Added to this union was the blessing of one child, Stephen Marc Jasper.
Betty worked for United Parcel Service for many years. She also coordinated dormitory activities for residents at the West Penn Hospital of Nursing for 20 years. After retiring in 2001, Betty enjoyed traveling across the U.S., visiting cities in New York, Arizona, California, Hawaii, and other states. She also enjoyed cruise ship excursions. A very stylish woman, Betty was well known for her stunning wardrobe and jewelry collections as well as her elegantly decorated home, which was her showplace.
BEtty departed this life on April 26, 2022, at 9:55 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband June, her father Rochester, her mother Sarah, and her sister Georgia.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Marc Jasper; grandson, Stephen Marc Garcia-JAsper; great-grandsons, Skylar Marc Garcia-Jasper, and Sage Lee Garcia-Jasper; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends-including her dear friend and confidante Mrs. Eugenia Tomlin.
