Berthran A. McCoy

Berthran "Bert" Adrian McCoy was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 24, 1956, he was the third child of the late Ellis and Frances McCoy. Berthran grew up in Garfield and attended Fort Pitt Elementary School and Peabody High School. He received his Academic Diploma from Peabody High School June of 1974. While attending Peabody High School, he was a varsity Letterman in Cross-County, Track and Field Teams. He also attended Carnegie Mellow Pre-College Art and Music Classes 1971 thru 1974.

Berthran went on to further his education at California University, California PA, where he received his Bachelor's Degree (Pre-MEdicine and Biological Sciences) in May of 1980. He then attended Edinboro University, Edinboro Pa where he received his Master's Degree (Genetics/Developmental Biology and Biological Sciences) in May of 1987. 

Berthran pursued teaching as a Adjunct College Instructor and Lecturer of Science from January of 1988 through June of 2012 at various schools of higher education in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Berthran's love of family prompted his move back home to stay with his mother, Frances McCoy until her passing in 2017. He pretty much polarized himself and lived to the beat of his ow drum after mom's death until he peacefully transitioned on Monday, December 23, 2024 in Allegheny General Hospital.

Berthran will be missed as he leaves to cherish his memory 5 siblings: Jonathan Keith McCoy of Jacksonville, FL; Ellis Dwight McCor, Rodney Emanuel McCoy, Angela Beth McCoy & Tracey Roderick McCoy all of Pittsburgh and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
