OBITUARY

“I have fought a good fight

I have finished my course

I have kept the Faith”

Barbara JoAnn (Charley) Lee began her journey, February 3, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the union of Albert Theodore Charley and Pearl Young. After Barbara’s loving and caring mother Pearl ascended into Eternal Life; Barbara’s father married another loving, caring and devoted wife Juanita. Barbara completed her journey July 19, 2018.

Barbara was educated in the Pittsburgh Public school system, graduating from Fifth Avenue High School in 1964. She continued her education at CCAC. Barbara held many positions to name a few: She was employed as a Drug and Alcohol counselor, Social Service Aid for New Opportunities for the Aging, and Health Care Expediter for the Mercy Health Care Center. She also worked as a Senior Home Companion.

At a very young age, Barbara accepted her Faith and was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church. She also attended Cleaves Temple C.M.E. Church, where her grandfather, Elliott Charley was one of the founders. She is a current member of Covenant Church on the Hill.

Barbara met her husband, Jeffrey Earl Lee and married at Ebenezer Baptist Church, June 29, 1968. Their union produced an angel, daughter Kimberly Evet Lee. Barbara was a spiritual supporter of the Covenant Church on the Hill. Her spoken testimony of God’s love was passionate, thoughtful and well spoken. Barbara enjoyed studying the scripture. She was a prayer warrior. She also enjoyed listening to worship music, travel, and attending Bible study classes. Her hobbies were painting, reading and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Barbara had an especially sweet and gentle soul. The peace of God was upon her and it was easy to see the source of her joy was the Lord. Her comforting nature was a Blessing to all. She was known for giving wise and timely counsel.

“She opens her mouth with wisdom and in her

tongue is the law of Kindness” Prov. 31:26.

Barbara ascended into Eternal Life at home, peacefully in her sleep, Thursday morning, July 19, 2018; after an extended period of illness. She leaves to mourn in passing a loving caring and devoted daughter, Kimberly Evet Lee, two brothers: Albert T. Charley, Jr. “Tippy” (Patricia) of Reno Nevada and Reginald David Charley (Barbara) of Loraine Ohio, nieces Pamela Jackson and Camelia Charley, nephews Robert McCullough and David Charley a host of great nieces and great nephews, cousins, adopted daughters and wonderful caring Blessed friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Charley, her father Albert Theodore Charley and stepmother Juanita Charley.
