Barbara Louise Woods Castleberry was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on December 29th, 1942 to parents Katrina and Milton Woods. Barbara survived her sister Jane Booker but is now survived by her sisters Rose Jackson, Watie Woods and Maxine Moore.
Barbara moved to Pittsburgh as a teenager from New York City by way of Connecticut. She attended Westinghouse High School and later graduated from Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. Barbara married Bernard Castleberry in 1957 and they were blessed with four children. She was employed by PNC Bank and later retired to her home in Penn Hills. She was an avid reader of many different genres and loved her crossword puzzles. She would literally spend hours on her computer playing her games to keep herself busy. One of the most important things about Barbara was how devoted she was to her family. Bringing everyone together for family gatherings and blessing all with her famous cooking and baking. She was always very family focused and loved them fiercely.
On December 23, 2024, Barbara was called home by our Lord and Savior where she will be reunited with her beloved husband Bernard and beloved son Kerry (Ka-Ka) Castleberry. She is survived by her three children, Kenneth Castleberry (Jean), Keith Castleberry, Karen Castleberry Johnson Bey (Jefferson), and daughter in law Larette Castleberry; grandchildren, Daniel Castleberry, Deanna Walker, Brandon Castleberry, Kerry Castleberry, Chandler Castleberry, Kayla Castleberry and Keira Castleberry; her great grandchildren, Layla Castleberry, Danni Castleberry, Demitri Castleberry and Alea Castleberry.
Barbara is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
