Antoinette Hudson was born to the union of Claude and Celia (Woodson) Hudson in Pittsburgh, PA. The middle child of five children on May 9, 1933.
Toni attended the public school system at Fort Pitt Elementary School. She graduated from Peabody High School in 1952 and she made it known to everyone that she graduated with Frank Gorshin “The Riddler” from the Batman TV series.
She professed Christ at an early age at Sixth Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the late Reverend J. C. Hairston and later found a Church home in Philadelphia, PA.
In her youth, she joined a group and would sing in the afternoon at various Churches. In later years she sang in a group called The Flames with her good friend Peachy.
Toni moved to California with her sister Maxine. After a few years she lived in New York with her cousin Celia. Finally relocating to Philadelphia, with her good friend Margaret Fulton.
In Philadelphia, she was employed by Temple Hospital as the operating room scheduler and where she retired after 48 years. This is where she met a lot of her lifetime friends and helped a lot of people obtain jobs at the hospital.
Toni was a fanatic about football and basketball. She always had some game on but was not into the Steelers. She became an Eagles fan, and we forgive her for that.
Toni loved the Casinos. She would spend a lot of time (all night long) in Atlantic City on the weekends and let us know she was a winner but never how much. After a while she became a VIP Gold Member. She also loved cooking you a good meal and making pina coladas, cheesecake, and sweet potato pies. Followed up by her massive music collection of Nina Simone, Nancy Wilson, Gladys Knight and staying up all night singing her favorite songs and dancing. She was a kind and loving sister and aunt devoted to her family and friends. Spending time hanging out, going to the movies, and would talk for hours on the phone. She would always send cards to you for every occasion. Practically never forgetting anyone’s birthday.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents, sister Maxine Hudson McAllister, brothers Chauncey Hudson and Robert Hudson and nephew Kevin McAllister. She is survived by her sister Marionette (Susie) Simmons, nieces Melanie Simmons Woodfork (Melvyn), Sharon McKenzie (Cleon) and Yolanda McAllister of Compton, CA, Dewanda Edwards (Terrell) and April Hudson, Kim Hudson, Jodie Hudson, and Lisa Hudson of Denver, CO and nephews Darryl Simmons, Bruce (TD) Hudson, Joel Simmons (Tiara), Darryl Simmons, Jr. and David Simmons and Jonathan McAllister of Compton, CA, and a host of cousins and friends.
