Andrew Stewart Obituary

Andrew Franklin Stewart Jr. was born on November 20, 1947, to Andrew Babbitts Franklin Stewart Sr. and Bernice Davis in Pittsburgh, PA  Andrew was known by many names depending on the circumstances and the person. You may know him as Butchie, Stew, Drew, Andrew, Frank, and also known as Betty Lynn's brother. Andrew loved people and family; never met a stranger. He would engage in conversation with anyone for a very very long time. If a person didn't like Stew for whatever reason, in 10-15 minutes they were best friends. He enjoyed all kinds of cars, the Pittsburgh Steelers, second-hand stores, jazz, and talking. Stew graduated from Schenley High School with "High Honors" and attended Bishop College in Dallas TX. He also served in the United States Army Security Agency. He was stationed in Greece, Turkey, and Viet Nam. Stew and the love of his life for 44 years, Tippi, enjoyed life together. They loved sitting on the bench in the park watching and listening to jazz.

Stew endeavored many professions including a flight attendant, bartender, and distributor for Ole English, and owned a Limousine service called Joy Ride. Of course, that didn't last because he gave everyone free rides! He retired from the City of Pittsburgh Fire Department in 1991. His most important job was husband, father, and uncle. He transported all the grandchildren to all schools and extracurricular activities.

Stew was one of a kind with his big smile, giving advice, and helping any and everyone. Most of all, making everyone feel special. No matter how bad you were feeling, after a conversation with Stew, you felt like you could conquer the world. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was definitely a shining star.

Stew was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew F. Stewart Sr., Bernice Laley Daniel, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He leaves behind in his life, his wife Joyce A. Sadik Stewart "Tippi", Siblings Betty Lynn Maxwell, Cheryl Anderson (Ed), Gary Laley (Joyce), and Kim Alford; Children Yasmine Stewart, Alfred Sadik, Alphonso Sadik, Rev. Aisha Tate (Rev.
