Andre Bernard Hemby

Andre was born November 28, 1957 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Earl Hemby and Magnolia Hemby.  He was older brother to Derrick Hemby.  He departed this world on December 22, 2020.

Andre grew up in Homewood and attended Crescent Elementary School, Hayes and Taylor Allderdice High School and Clarion State University.  He met and married his high school sweetheart, Kim Thornton and from that union, his one and only daughter was born, Sharise.

Andre believed in hard work and saving money.  He was employed as a maintenance worker by the Carnegie Museum and the University of Pittsburgh for over 40 years.   He also worked alongside his father and brother to manage Earl the Pearl’s Tavern and owned a cleaning company for several years before retiring in 2018.

On June 4, 2017, Andre married his long-time love Shari Tolliver who helped him complete the last chapter of his life. 

Andre loved his family, telling stories, and laughter.  He added a unique element of joy to the lives he touched.  He is preceded in death by his father (Earl B Hemby).

Andre leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife (Shari Hemby), daughter (Sharise (Hemby) Nance) one son-in-law (William Nance), mother (Magnolia Hemby), brother (Derrick Hemby), sister-in-law (Carla Hemby), Mother-in-law (Evelyn Tolliver), Father-in-law (Ernest Tolliver), sister-in-law (Shidale Demby), brother-in-law (Ernest Tolliver Jr) nephew (Derrick T Hemby, wife Ahdawnah Hemby), nephew Shawn Hemby), nephew (Eddie Sadik-Denson, fiancé Monique Marshall), niece (Cortnei Sadik) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends.
