Vernes (Flint) Pugh was born April 8, 1960, in Daisytown, PA. He departed this life on February 25, 2018 at his residence in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the seventh child born to the late Wilbert, Sr. and Martha Pugh.
He was educated in the the Pittsburgh Public School System. He worked at Dingbat's Restaurant for over 20 years as a head chef until he ratired. He was very passionate about cooking. He would cook for anyone. He later worked at PNC ballpark for a number of years until he became ill.
Vernes was also passionate about softball. He played for teams which include: Wild Bunch Players, Gandy's, Monk and Barb's and Rosen's Bar. I mean he could play some softball. He also was a little league and adult league umpire for many years.
Vernes was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Florence Frye and Charles and Geneva Pugh; parents, Wilbert, Sr. and Martha Pugh; sister, Roni Pugh; his daughter Tina Shelton; and aunts and uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Vernes Tyrone Pugh, Jr. and Tevin Johnson; daughter, Niela Nelson; five grandchildren, Bruce, Bryan, Tanaya, Brashawd and Brendon Mullen; three sisters, Joetta Larkin of Atlanta, GA, Jean Pugh of Pittsburgh, PA and Toni Reid (Larry) of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, William Pugh, Jr. of Brownsville, PA and Charles Pugh of Pittsburgh, PA; nieces, Dawn Green (Gary), Nicole Woods (Calvern), Sonya Pugh, Alisia Thomas (Derek), Darnetta Price, Charisse Bowman (Gary); nephews, Robert Taylor, LAcey Hill, Todd Hill, Wilbert Pugh, III, Leonard Hall and Paris Green; the mothers of his children, Charlotte Shelton, Christina Gassette, Sandra Nelson, and Pam Johnson and a host of aunts, uncles, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
