Tyler's Take off

Tyler made his triumphant entry into this life's race to Shawn and Yvonne Carter on November 13, 1997 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Tyler was dedicated back to the Lord on February 8, 1998 and became a member of New Life Church of God In Greenfield, PA.  He was baptized on October 20, 2007.  His smile was as bright as the sun and he kept us on our toes because he never stopped moving!  Tyler's first encounter with school age children was an awkward one.  As a kindergarten student, his teacher told his parents that there was a problem.  When the kids were running relay races at recess, none of the other kids wanted to race against Tyler because they said that he was too fast and couldn't catch him.  Tyler was the envy of his kindergarten friends.  It was then that we thought to introduce Tyler to athletics and track became his passion.

Tyler's Dash

Tyler attended Trinity Christian School and he graduated in 2016.   Tyler's passion for track was further nurtured here as a member of Trinity Christian's and Penn Hills' Track and Field teams, the basketball team and the soccer team.  Tyler excelled in every sport he played.  In basketball, he was named defensive MVP for three consecutive years with a career high of over 600 points.  Though Tyler knew nothing about soccer, he approached the game with the same passion and focus as a professional athlete while scoring seven goals in his only season.  His passion continued to be Track.  At Trinity, Tyler broke the 110 meter hurdle record, the 300 meter hurdle record, the long jump and the triple jump record.  He went on to win a gold medal for the triple jump in 2015 by jumping a 47'.75 - Trinity's first gold medalist.

Tyler's Legacy

Tyler chose to begin a new chapter at Point Park University, where he was torn between a career in education and law, in either case his desire was to make the world a better place.  He was preceded in death by his uncle Richard Twyman, Jr.  Tyler leaves his legacy to the open heart of his loving parents, Shawn Carter, Sr. & Yvonne Twyman-Carter, sister, Taylor Carter; brother Shawn Carter Jr.; grandmother, Margaret Twyman; grandmother, Nora Dandridge (Desmond Wynn); grandfather, Wilbert Dandridge (Carol); adopted great grandmother, Thelma Wallace; uncle, Timothy Twyman (Linda); aunt, Cynthia Twyman; uncle, Eric Twyman (Tamela); uncle, Wilbert Che Dandridge, aunt, Janea Dandridge; godparents, Shirley and James Brown, LaVerne Carter, Ashley Pannell and Mark Abrams; along with nieces, cousins, a host of relatives and church family.
